HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers played his 15th and final game in Chicago against the Bulls on February 21, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant and the Lakers have a record of 6 wins and 9 losses in their games at the United Center (UC); his first game at the UC took place on December 17, 1996, during the Bull's second, three-peat of the 1990s; and

WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant is 3rd on the NBA's all-time scoring list and 3rd on the NBA's all-time playoff scoring list; he achieved the second-highest scoring game in NBA history with 81 points, and has 24 games with at least 50 points scored; he is a 2-time NBA scoring champion and has the 11th-highest scoring average of all-time; he has the 5th-most field goals made in NBA history; and

WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant is a 5-time NBA Champion; he was twice named NBA Finals Most Valuable Player; and

WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant was named the NBA's Most Valuable Player following the 2007-08 season; he was selected as an NBA All-Star 17 times and named Most Valuable Player of the All-Star game 4 times; he was selected to the All-NBA First Team 11 times; and

WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant has been selected to the NBA's All-Defense team 12 times; and

WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant is 9th on the NBA's all-time list in career minutes and has played for 20 seasons; and

WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant is a 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare February 21, 2016 as Kobe Bryant Day in the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Kobe Bryant as an expression of our esteem and respect.
