HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Schaumburg was incorporated as a village on March 7, 1956 and observes the 60th anniversary of its incorporation in 2016; and

WHEREAS, Schaumburg has grown from a small farming community with a population of 130 residents, encompassing two square miles, into a thriving community with a population of 75,000; and

WHEREAS, Schaumburg serves as a center of economic activity in the State of Illinois and is home to more businesses than any community outside the City of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Schaumburg has distinguished itself as a premier and livable residential community offering its citizens first class services and amenities; and

WHEREAS, Schaumburg is home to an award-winning library, a Gold Medal Award-winning park district, unparalleled schools, and a wealth of recreational and cultural activities; and

WHEREAS, Schaumburg acknowledges active citizens who contribute to the continued health, well-being, and success of the community; and

WHEREAS, Schaumburg has dedicated 2016 as a year of celebration, honoring its rich heritage, its vibrant present, and its continued success in the future; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Village of Schaumburg's many achievements and services and express congratulations on 60 years of informing, inspiring, and bringing the community together; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Al Larson, President of the Village of Schaumburg.
