HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is appropriate for us to remember the many sacrifices and contributions to the cause of freedom made by the outstanding men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces protecting our great nation; and

WHEREAS, Over 600 men and women from Loda Township have served in the armed forces, beginning with the War of 1812; and

WHEREAS, There have been a total of 26 men who have given their lives protecting America's freedom in armed conflicts (20 from the Civil War, 3 from World War I, and 3 from World War II); and

WHEREAS, The Village of Loda holds an annual "Loda Good Ole Days Celebration" from July 24 to 26, 2015; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate the section of U.S. Route 45 that runs through the Village of Loda as the "Veterans of Loda Township Highway"; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs giving notice of the name of the "Veterans of Loda Township Highway"; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Village of Loda.
