HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency provides state-of-the-art intelligence to policymakers, the military, intelligence professionals, and first responders; and

WHEREAS, Many of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's missions, such as GPS monitoring and aeronautical safety of navigation, are conducted from the St. Louis region facility; and

WHEREAS, According to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, anyone who sails a United States ship, flies a United States aircraft, makes national policy decisions, fights wars, locates targets, responds to natural disasters, or even navigates with a cell phone relies on the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency; and

WHEREAS, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency plans to build a new campus in the St. Louis/Metro East region by 2021; the new campus is estimated to generate 3,000 jobs; and

WHEREAS, According to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the St. Louis/Metro East region is critical to the agency's mission and long-term vision for geospatial intelligence; and

WHEREAS, The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is considering 4 potential locations for the campus, Fenton, Missouri, Mehlville, Missouri, a location in the northern portion of St. Louis, Missouri, and St. Clair County, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The St. Clair County location serves as the most logical and best location as it serves as the only location adjacent to a military base (Scott Air Force Base) and a major Interstate, Interstate 64; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to build its new campus at the St. Clair County, Illinois location, adjacent to Scott Air Force Base; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we welcome the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to the State of Illinois and the estimated 3,000 jobs it will bring to the State; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be delivered to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Kansas City District, President Barack Obama, and the members of the Illinois congressional delegation.
