SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
10 ILCS 5/1-25 new
55 ILCS 5/3-2020 new

    Amends the Election Code. Provides that, notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, whenever an election authority is required to publish or post information to the public, the election authority may satisfy that requirement by publishing via a newspaper or on its website. Amends the Counties Code. Provides that, notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, whenever a county clerk is required to publish or post election information to the public, the clerk may satisfy that requirement by publishing via a newspaper or on its website. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning elections.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section
51-25 as follows:
 
6    (10 ILCS 5/1-25 new)
7    Sec. 1-25. Publishing online. Notwithstanding any other
8provision of law to the contrary, whenever an election
9authority is required to publish or post information to the
10public, the election authority may satisfy that requirement by
11publishing via a newspaper or on its website.
 
12    Section 10. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section
133-2020 as follows:
 
14    (55 ILCS 5/3-2020 new)
15    Sec. 3-2020. Publishing online. Notwithstanding any other
16provision of law to the contrary, whenever a county clerk is
17required to publish or post election information to the public,
18the clerk may satisfy that requirement by publishing via a
19newspaper or on its website.
 
20    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
