    Amends the Environmental Protection Act. makes a technical change in a provision concerning a materials disposal ban.

1    AN ACT concerning safety.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by
5changing Section 21.6 as follows:
 
6    (415 ILCS 5/21.6)  (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 1021.6)
7    Sec. 21.6. Materials disposal ban.
8    (a) Beginning July 1, 1996, no person may knowingly mix
9liquid used oil with any municipal waste that is intended for
10collection and and disposal at a landfill.
11    (b) Beginning July 1, 1996, no owner or operator of a
12sanitary landfill shall accept for final disposal liquid used
13oil that is discernible in the course of prudent business
14operation.
15    (c) For purposes of this Section, "liquid used oil" does
16not include used oil filters, rags, absorbent material used to
17collect spilled oil or other materials incidentally
18contaminated with used oil, or empty containers which
19previously contained virgin oil, re-refined oil, or used oil.
20    (d) The Agency and the Department of Commerce and Economic
21Opportunity shall investigate the manner in which liquid used
22oil is currently being utilized and potential prospects for
23future use.
