Amends the School Code. Provides that school board members may expend school district funds only for school purposes, including without limitation the conduct of business, operations, and education. Prohibits school board members from using district funds for entertainment expenses. Effective July 1, 2017.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections 10-20.56 and 34-18.49 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/10-20.56 new)

Sec. 10-20.56. Use of district funds by school board members. School board members may expend school district funds only for school purposes, including without limitation the conduct of business, operations, and education. School board members are prohibited from using district funds for entertainment expenses.

Sec. 34-18.49. Use of district funds by board members. Board members may expend school district funds only for school purposes, including without limitation the conduct of business, operations, and education. Board members are prohibited from using district funds for entertainment expenses.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2017.
