SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

705 ILCS 105/12.5 new

Amends the Clerks of Courts Act. Provides that with regard to any notification required by law to be made by the circuit clerk to a party, the circuit clerk may reasonably rely upon any notice of the party's change of address received from the United States Postal Service as a true and correct statement of the party's current residential address.

AN ACT concerning courts.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Clerks of Courts Act is amended by adding Section 12.5 as follows:

(705 ILCS 105/12.5 new)

Sec. 12.5. Party change of address. With regard to any notification required by law to be made by the circuit clerk to a party, the circuit clerk may reasonably rely upon any notice of the party's change of address received from the United States Postal Service as a true and correct statement of the party's current residential address.
