SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Dennis" Icenogle of Blandinsville, who passed away on November 19, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Icenogle was born to William E. and Wilma Jean Bauser Icenogle in Spring Valley on May 20, 1944, and he served as a medical corpsman in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1967; he received the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Medical Badge, and the Marksman Medal; he married Mary Kathryn Coakley in Blandinsville on April 5, 1969; he began living in Blandinsville in 1981; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Icenogle worked as a truck driver; he also worked as a police officer in Blandinsville and Warsaw for several years; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Icenogle was a member of the American Legion; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Icenogle was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Douglas Edward Icenogle; and his brother, Gary Lynn Icenogle; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Icenogle is survived by his wife; his children, Cheryl Ann Campbell, Wendell Eugene (Michelle Nicole) Icenogle, Robin Denise (Richard) Shinall, and William Eric (Sheila) Icenogle; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Eldon Icenogle; and his sisters, Debra Bordenkircher, Barbara Bailey, and Shelly (Hank) Petrey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William "Dennis" Icenogle and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dennis Icenogle as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
