HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to commend Deborah Ziech on her 20 years of service to the Board of School Inspectors of Joliet Public Schools District 86; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Ziech is a proud graduate of Taft Elementary School and Hufford Junior High School in Joliet Public Schools District 86, Joliet West High School, and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing; she currently resides on the west side of Joliet with her husband, Dean; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Ziech was first elected to the Board of School Inspectors of Joliet Public Schools District 86 in 2003, after she previously served on the initial District Strategic Plan Committee; and

WHEREAS, During her 20-year tenure, Deborah Ziech has served as vice president and president; she has been a determined voice for clarity and accountability for district policy and finances, and she has remained a strong supporter of teachers and staff, always wanting the best for them, their students, and families; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Ziech has been a director of the Joliet Grade Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence and a member of the Joliet Reads Committee, where she was a founding member; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Ziech has been given numerous awards from the ASPIRA Association, Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), and other organizations; she was a recipient of an Illinois Chapter National School Relations Association Distinguished Service Award in 2008 and the 2013 Joliet Reads Community Service Award; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Ziech's final board meeting will be at Sator Sanchez Elementary School on May 10, 2023; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Deborah Ziech on her 20 years of service to the Board of School Inspectors of Joliet Public Schools District 86, and we thank her for her devotion and service to the children and families of Joliet; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Deborah Ziech as an expression of our esteem and respect.
