SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Susan (nee Waters) Osta of Forest Park, who passed away on May 20, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Susan Osta was born on April 26, 1943 and raised in Syracuse, New York; she attended Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse and attended nursing school in Boston, Massachusetts; and

WHEREAS, Susan Osta moved to Chicago in 1966 and began a nursing career in pediatrics; in 1973, she and her husband settled in Oak Park; after retiring from nursing, she continued to serve and care for others as a nanny, volunteer, and grandmother; she was an active member of the Suburban Fellowship Center in Forest Park for nearly 28 years, and she advocated for those with little voice: children, the homeless, and people in need; and

WHEREAS, Susan Osta was the wife of James; the mother of Kathleen (Tony Smith), Mark (Cynthia), and David (Amanda) Osta; the grandmother of Kaelen and Addison Osta Smith, Allison and Jack Osta, and Seth and Ian Osta; the sister of William (Jeanne), Robert (Linda), Barry (Jacqueline), and Peter (Janet) Waters; aunt to many nieces and nephews; and cousin to many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Susan Osta, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Susan Osta as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
