1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sandy Benson on the
4 occasion of her retirement as Director of Community and
5 Government Relations at Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare; and

6     WHEREAS, Sandy Benson is the Director of Community and
7 Government Relations at Edward Hospital, where she's worked for
8 more than 20 years, beginning in 1991; and

9     WHEREAS, Sandy Benson has been instrumental in the effort
10 to improve access to healthcare in the west and southwest
11 suburbs of Chicago and has been a passionate lobbyist on
12 healthcare issues; she has brought a wealth of expertise from
13 her service on the Naperville, Plainfield, and Oswego Chamber
14 Boards and the Naperville Library Board; in addition, she has
15 served and continues to serve in a variety of capacities for
16 the Naperville Chamber of Commerce, the Naperville School
17 District 203, the Naperville Development Partnership, and the
18 Rotary Club of Naperville; and

19     WHEREAS, Sandy Benson has been honored for her community
20 service with the prestigious "Influential Women in Business
21 Award" from The Business Leger and the Naperville Jaycees
22 "Distinguished Service Award"; and

1     WHEREAS, Sandy Benson has a bachelor's degree in Business
2 Administration with a minor in Speech Communications from
3 Elmhurst College; she and her husband, John, have lived in
4 Naperville for more than 35 years; they have a son, Garth; a
5 daughter-in-law, Sereen; and a granddaughter, Hadley; and

6     WHEREAS, A celebration in Sandy Benson's honor will be held
7 on April 15, 2014 at the Meson Sabika restaurant in Naperville;
8 therefore, be it

9     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11 we congratulate Sandy Benson on her retirement as Director of
12 Community and Government Relations at Edward-Elmhurst
13 Healthcare; and be it further

14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to Sandy Benson as an expression of our esteem and
16 respect.
