HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Illinois District 13 Little League team on their participation in the 2013 Challenger Exhibition Game at the Little League World Series; and

WHEREAS, With the help of Tri-Cities Little League and Bartlett Little League,The Woodstock Challengers started playing baseball in June of 2012 with the goal of giving special needs children in northern McHenry County the opportunity to play baseball in an organized environment; and

WHEREAS, There are more than 30,000 Challenger players from more than 900 leagues worldwide; and

WHEREAS, Fifteen participants were selected from 165 members from the Bartlett, Tri-Cities, and Woodstock areas to participate in the Challenger Little League World Series exhibition game at Volunteer Stadium in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the home of the Little League World Series; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois District 13 Little League team competed against the other Challenger team selected for the game, California District 57 from the San Francisco area, on August 24, 2013; the game was broadcasted on ESPN3; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois District 13 Little League team had a great season that ended on top with a game played in the Little League World Series, which was enjoyed by family, close friends, and the dedicated people who helped to make this a memorable trip for all the players; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate and honor the Illinois District 13 Little League team on their participation in the Little League World Series, the work of those volunteers who helped work with the kids to make this league a possibility, and District 13's dedication to helping children with special needs; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the players, buddies, and coaches of Illinois District 13 as an expression of our esteem and respect.
