HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Pat Schmeder of Smithton
4on being recognized among the "ELITE" (Extraordinary Leaders
5Impacting Today's Environment) by the Center for Racial
6Harmony; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Center for Racial Harmony is a not-for-profit
8organization that aims to increase understanding, cooperation,
9and communication among all races and ethnic groups; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Pat Schmeder serves as a volunteer with Heartlinks
11Grief Center at Family Hospice in Belleville, where she helped
12create grief groups and outreach programs for community youth;
13together with Director Diana Cuddeback and other volunteers,
14she grew Heartlinks Grief Center from serving a few children
15and families per year to serving over 1,000 local youth yearly;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Pat Schmeder's teen group has been affectionately
18dubbed the "Brat Pack"; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Along with her work at the Heartlinks Grief
20Center, Pat Schmeder's community service also includes serving
21for 15 years on the advisory board for RSVP, a group serving

1local older adults, and volunteering at the Labor and Industry
2Museum in Belleville, where she educates school tour groups on
3Metro East history; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Pat Schmeder was presented with her award at a
5banquet at The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in
6Belleville on October 19, 2014; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we congratulate Pat Schmeder on being recognized among the
10"ELITE" (Extraordinary Leaders Impacting Today's Environment);
11and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Pat Schmeder as an expression of our esteem and
14respect.
