HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ethel
4Maria Baskin, who passed away on May 11, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ethel Baskin was born on February 6, 1935 in Lake
6Charles, Louisiana; her parents were Charles Lee and Thelma
7Jean Scott; she married Thurman Evan Baskin in 1958; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ethel Baskin attended high school and graduated
9from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in the early 1950s; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ethel Baskin accepted Christ and attended the
11First Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Thomas;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ethel Baskin will be fondly remembered by all who
14knew and loved her as a loving mother, grandmother,
15great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and confidante who had a great
16sense of humor and loved to laugh; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ethel Baskin was preceded in death by her parents;
18her husband, Thurman; and a grandson, Jermaine McDaniels; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ethel Baskin is survived by her children, Charles

1(Jovi), Bobby, Patricia (Anthony), Thelma (Ivan), Cookie
2(Robert), and Gayle; 2 step-daughters, Karen and Lisa Walker; a
3godson, Stanley Ishmon; 20 grandchildren; 16
4great-grandchildren; her lifetime partner, Hayes Ricky Wilson;
5and many other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of
9Ethel Maria Baskin; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Ethel Baskin as an expression of our
12sympathy.
