HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Darlene Bull on the occasion of her retirement from the Joliet Public Library; and

WHEREAS, Darlene Bull has been an outstanding employee of the Joliet Public Library since September of 1978, when she was hired on a part-time temporary basis; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure with the library, Darlene Bull has worked in the library's circulation department as Head of Circulation; she has also worked as Retrospective Collection Manager, Adult Fiction Selector, Public Service Projects Coordinator, and Interim Manager of Technical Services; and

WHEREAS, Darlene Bull worked tirelessly assisting the Youth Services Department and the Circulation Department with their recovery from the fire of April 19, 1989, which destroyed much of the library's youth services collection; and

WHEREAS, Darlene Bull has represented the Joliet Public Library in many city and State organizations and committees, notably the Community Services Council, on which she serves as board member and membership chair; her community contacts have also benefited library services enormously; and

WHEREAS, Darlene Bull has developed and shown a depth of knowledge about the Joliet Public Library's history and collection that enabled her to be an effective support for library administration and staff; and

WHEREAS, After 35 years of dedicated service, Darlene Bull announced her retirement date of May 26, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Darlene Bull has given tirelessly to the well-being of Joliet Public Library patrons and staff and all are better for her efforts; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Darlene Bull on the occasion of her retirement and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Darlene Bull as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
