SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
510 ILCS 90/5.1  from Ch. 8, par. 805.1

    Amends the Illinois Pseudorabies Control Act. Provides that members of the Pseudorabies Advisory Committee shall only serve for the duration of the pseudorabies outbreak within the State. Provides that the committee shall only meet during the duration of the pseudorabies outbreak. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning animals.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Pseudorabies Control Act is amended
5by changing Section 5.1 as follows:
 
6    (510 ILCS 90/5.1)  (from Ch. 8, par. 805.1)
7    Sec. 5.1. Pseudorabies Advisory Committee. Upon the
8detection of pseudorabies within the State, the The Director of
9Agriculture is authorized to establish within the Department an
10advisory committee to be known as the Pseudorabies Advisory
11Committee. Such committee shall consist of, but not be limited
12to, representatives of swine producers, general swine
13organizations within the State, licensed veterinarians,
14general farm organizations, auction markets, the packing
15industry and the University of Illinois. Members of this
16committee shall only serve for the duration of the pseudorabies
17outbreak. The committee shall only meet during the duration of
18the pseudorabies outbreak. The Director shall, from time to
19time, consult with the Pseudorabies Advisory Committee on
20changes in the pseudorabies control program.
21    The Director shall appoint a Technical Committee from the
22membership of the Pseudorabies Advisory Committee, which shall
23be comprised of a veterinarian, a swine extension specialist,

1and a pork producer. This committee shall serve as resource
2persons for the technical aspects of the herd plans and may
3advise the Department on procedures to be followed, timetables
4for accomplishing the elimination of infection, assist in
5obtaining cooperation from swine herd owners, and recommend
6adjustments in the approved herd plan as necessary.
7    These Committee members shall be entitled to reimbursement
8of all necessary and actual expenses incurred in the
9performance of their duties.

11    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
12becoming law.
