SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

705 ILCS 305/10.5 new
705 ILCS 310/10.6 new
    Amends the Jury Act and the Jury Commission Act. Provides that a prospective juror who is 65 years of age or older shall, upon request, be excused from jury service.

1     AN ACT concerning courts.

2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

4     Section 5. The Jury Act is amended by adding Section 10.5
5 as follows:

6     (705 ILCS 305/10.5 new)
7     Sec. 10.5. Excusing prospective jurors; persons 65 years of
8 age or older. A prospective juror who is 65 years of age or
9 older shall, upon request, be excused from jury service.

10     Section 10. The Jury Commission Act is amended by adding
11 Section 10.6 as follows:

12     (705 ILCS 310/10.6 new)
13     Sec. 10.6. Excusing prospective jurors; persons 65 years of
14 age or older. A prospective juror who is 65 years of age or
15 older shall, upon request, be excused from jury service.
