SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George J. Arnold, who passed away on October 3, 2010; and

WHEREAS, He was born August 14, 1923, in Bluffs, and was the son of George and Jesse (Adams) Arnold; he married Betty (Wilson) Arnold on March 12, 1948, in Roxana; and

WHEREAS, He served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II, then went to work for Olin Corporation as a pipefitter; he was a member of the Wood River Masonic Lodge and was active with the Wood River Ho-Downers (square dancers); and

WHEREAS, He was a Boy Scout leader, and helped build the Boy Scout house in Roxana; he received the Order of the Arrow from the Boy Scout Council; he helped in building Camp Warren Levis in Godfrey, and was active in Little League teams in Roxana; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his two brothers, John and Richard Arnold; and

WHEREAS, George Arnold is survived by his four children and their spouses, Georgia "Kay" Barnett, Dennis and Pam Arnold, Keith and Jill Arnold, and Rhonda and Ron Miller; his six grandchildren and their spouses, Teri and Dave Shook, Steve and Kelley Sherwood, Stephanie and Terry Geisler, Jacob and Lori Miller, Morgan Arnold, and Mandy Lou Arnold; his nine great-grandchildren, Travis, David, and Dallas Shook, Cami and Cylar Sherwood, Shelbee Geisler, and Karli, Gracie, and Griffin Miller; and his special friend, Maxine Curtis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of George Arnold; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Arnold as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
