SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ondina "Ondi" Norman, who passed away on August 21, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Ondina Norman met her future husband, retired WMAQ-5 news anchor Art Norman, when he was starting his career in Charlotte, North Carolina and she was at the TV station doing research for her master's degree; and

WHEREAS, Ondina Norman had a long and distinguished career as a teacher; she taught near Charlotte, North Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland before moving to Evanston; after moving to Evanston, she taught first grade for about 20 years at Oakton School; and

WHEREAS, After her retirement, Ondina Norman and her husband traveled extensively; she enjoyed Rome and adored going antiquing in Galena for African-Americana works; and

WHEREAS, Ondina Norman is survived by her loving husband, Art; her mother, Ruth Outerbridge; and her sister, Karen Roberson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Ondina "Ondi" Norman; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ondina Norman as an expression of our sympathy.
