SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Owen K. Richardson of Spring Grove, who passed away on July 27, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Owen Richardson was born on December 15, 1921, in Solon Mills; and

WHEREAS, Owen Richardson was a farmer his entire life and was committed to maintaining an agricultural lifestyle and staying innovative when it came to new ideas in the industry; during his career, he raised dairy cows and steer and grew grain and Christmas trees; and

WHEREAS, Owen Richardson enjoyed flying and traveling; he served as host of numerous foreign exchange students; he was a lifetime member of the Rotary Club the Community Church of Richmond, where he sang in the church's choir; and

WHEREAS, Owen Richardson was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Richardson; his brother, Francis Richardson; and his sister, Della Medley; and

WHEREAS, Owen Richardson is survived by his children, Robert (Carol), Jane (Steve) Amundsen, George (Wendy), Peter (Arlana), and Dale (Sarah); his grandchildren, Jean (Jim) Valsa, Kai and Bryce Amundsen, Kenneth (Suzanne), Andrew, Kyle, Ryan (Kristen), Emily, Isaac (Abby), Jacob, and Jennell Richardson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Owen K. Richardson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Owen Richardson as an expression of our sympathy.
