SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lance Corporal Kevin E. Oratowski of Wheaton, who was killed while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan on August 18, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Kevin E. Oratowski was a Wheaton resident for over 22 years and a 2005 graduate of Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn; and

WHEREAS, He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on June 23, 2008; he served as a light-armored vehicle crewman and was conducting mounted combat operations against enemy forces at the time of his passing; and

WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Kevin E. Oratowski was the cherished son of Stephen and Mary (nee Groom); the loving brother of Carrie (fiancee, Jason Plaszek), Michael, and his late twin sister, Avy; the dear grandson of Avy and the late William Clint Groom, and the late Norman and Sylvia Oratowski; the fond uncle of Charlie and Joey; the dear godson of John and Kathy Gallo; the fond nephew of Loretta and Walter Kloog and Shari and Bruce Barnich; and the devoted cousin of many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful nation, the passing of Lance Corporal Kevin E. Oratowski; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Lance Corporal Kevin E. Oratowski and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lance Corporal Kevin E. Oratowski as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
