SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Emmett Wright Davis of Waukegan, who
4passed away on July 26, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Emmett Wright Davis was born in Cabool, Missouri
6in 1922, the youngest of six children; he served as a Corporal
7in the United States Army Air Corp in New Guinea from 1943 to
81944; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In 1947, he graduated from Southwest Missouri
10State, served as the Student Council President, and received
11the State Collegiate Speech Champion award; he received a
12Master's Degree from Northwestern University and served in
13Waukegan as a school principal at the Washington Elementary
14School and the John Clark Elementary School; he was an active
15member of the Waukegan City Club, an avid golfer, and a bridge
16player; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Following retirement he served on the Waukegan
18School Board, the Salvation Army Board, and worked as a
19property manager, appraiser, and numismatist; Mr. Davis was a
20former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Choir; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Emmett Davis is survived by his wife of 62 years,

1Millicent (nee Sadleir); his children, Bridget (Chris) Busck
2and Dr. Brian (Lori) Davis; and his grandchildren, Briana,
3Erik, Shannon, Gwynn, and Kirsten; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
6his family and friends, the passing of Emmett Davis; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Emmett Davis as a symbol of our
10sincere sympathy.
