SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas Leighton Edwards Jr. of Peoria, who passed away on July 23, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Edwards Jr. was born on September 6, 1930, in Flint, Michigan; he was the son of Thomas Leighton and Monica (McGovern) Edwards Sr.; he was formerly married to Judith Varian (Michael D.) Peyton and Kathe L. Carrigan; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Edwards Jr. was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Barbara Jean Fields and Susan Marie Edwards; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Edwards Jr. is survived by his children, Taurawa Jori Edwards (Kevin S. Hall), Roth Thomas Edwards, Shalon Varian (Ryan Smith) Edwards, and Rosha Leighton Edwards; his grandchildren, Kieran Ryan Edwards-Smith, Shay Leighton Edwards-Smith, and Nalia Varian Edwards-Smith; and his brothers, David Lawrence Edwards and John Sanford (Cindy) Edwards; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Thomas Leighton Edwards Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas Edwards Jr. as an expression of our sympathy.
