SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Justus S. Bartelt of Polo, who was killed while on duty in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on July 16, 2010; and

WHEREAS, SSgt. Justus Bartelt graduated from Polo Community High School in 2001; and

WHEREAS, SSgt. Justus Bartelt served with great pride and distinction with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment of the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune in Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, SSgt. Justus Bartelt was the loving son of Steve Bartelt and Jeannie Kyker and the brother of Shayann Bartelt, Simber Bartelt, and Kellen Kyker; and

WHEREAS, SSgt. Justus Bartelt's patriotism and courage will be remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow soldiers, and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Staff Sergeant Justus S. Bartelt; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of SSgt. Justus Bartelt as an expression of our sympathy.
