SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Private First Class Gunnar Randall Hotchkin of Naperville, formerly of Hinsdale, who was killed in action in northern Afghanistan, on June 16, 2010; and

WHEREAS, He was born December 23, 1978, in Hinsdale; and

WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Hinsdale High School in 1977, where he starred on the swim team; and

WHEREAS, He enlisted in the United States Army in March of 2009; he was thinking of becoming a public prosecutor after his time of service ended; and

WHEREAS, Pfc. Gunnar Hotchkin is survived by his wife, Erin; his three children, Taylor, Ethan, and Tristan; his brother, Kurt; his parents, Christine and Randall; his niece and nephew; and his grandmother, Ly Hotchkin; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, colleagues, and a grateful nation, the passing of Private First Class Gunnar Randall Hotchkin; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Private First Class Gunnar Randall Hotchkin and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Private First Class Gunnar Randall Hotchkin as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
