SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ann Copelin of Virden, who passed away on May 9, 2010; and

WHEREAS, She was born February 27, 1941, in Springfield, a daughter of Harry Watson and Thelma Ruth (Shoemate) English; she married Kenneth T. "Festus" Copelin on August 31, 1959, in Virginia, Illinois;; and

WHEREAS, She was a 1959 graduate of Virden High School, a member of the First Christian Church in Virden, and a member of the Prairie Red Hatter's; and

WHEREAS, She had worked as a waitress for Hall's Restaurant in Virden and formerly worked for Dickey-John Corporation in Auburn, and as a dispatcher for the Macoupin County Sheriff's Department and the Virden Police Department; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband; and

WHEREAS, Ann Copelin is survived by her son, Kenneth R. Copelin; her daughters, Kathleen R. Copelin and Christina M. Copelin; her brother, John T. "Jack" English; her 5 grandchildren; her 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Ann Copelin; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ann Copelin as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
