SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward "Vince" Ambrose of Bloomington, who passed away on April 12, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose was born on April 3, 1922, in Weston; he was the son of Charles L. and Fredericka "Freddy" Wernsman Ambrose; he married Eloise Huth on November 11, 1949, in Gibson City; and

WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose graduated from Fairbury High School and attended Illinois State Normal University; he enlisted in the United States Army on November 18, 1942, and served with the 501st Parachute Infantry until his honorable discharge as a staff sergeant on February 7, 1945; he graduated from the Fort Benning parachute school and received carbine sharpshooter, parachute, and glider badges; he was also a member of the 501st Infantry "Jump Band", where he played saxophone; he earned the American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Ribbon, the Victory Medal, and the Army Commendation Ribbon for his service; and

WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose was employed as a construction manager and kitchen design specialist; he was employed by the West Side Lumber Company and later worked at the Brady Home Center and WEB Construction; and

WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose enjoyed music and singing; he was well known for his beautiful voice and loved to share his talent everywhere he went; and

WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose was a member of the Holy Trinity Church in Bloomington, where he served as a cantor and sang in the church choir; he was a past president of the Home Builders Association and the Bloomington Jaycees; he was a member of the American Legion, the BNAA, and the Prairie Aviation Museum; he also served as a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 12 and Cubmaster of Pack 55; and

WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Francis "Van" Ambrose; and his sister, Barbara Kimble; and

WHEREAS, Edward Ambrose is survived by his wife; his children, Deborah (David) Decker, Charles Ambrose, David (Judi) Ambrose, Paul (Robin) Ambrose, Mark (Eva) Ambrose, and Steve (Valerie) Ambrose; his grandchildren, Vince Ambrose, Melissa Schellenberg, Deann (fiance Nathan Karplus) Ambrose, Audra (Daniel) Stolzoff, Donnie Ambrose, Walker Ambrose, Elizabeth Ambrose, Reed Decker, Scott Decker, Nicole Ambrose, Ben Ambrose, Michael Ambrose, Derek Ambrose, and Claire Ambrose; his 8 great-grandchildren; his brother, Lawrence (Karen) Ambrose; his special friend, Patrick Kennedy; and the members of the Thursday morning breakfast group; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Edward "Vince" Ambrose; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward Ambrose as an expression of our sympathy.
