SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Annalicia Davis-Johnson of Chicago, who passed away on September 30, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Annalicia Davis-Johnson was born on June 16, 1964 in Chicago; her parents were James and Annabell Davis; and

WHEREAS, Annalicia Davis-Johnson was baptized at an early age at the Hopeful Missionary Baptist Church; she later joined the First Church of Deliverance, where she served faithfully until her passing; she loved to sing and participated on various committees and programs in the church, being most proud of singing in the choir; she was well known as the "diva" at her church; and

WHEREAS, Annalicia Davis-Johnson received her education through the Chicago Public School system, attending John Hope Elementary School and graduating from Tilden High School; she went on to complete her undergraduate studies at Robert Morris College, receiving her Bachelor of Business Administration degree with high scholastic honors, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2005; she was also a member of Sigma Beta Delta; after receiving her B.B.A., she continued her graduate studies at Robert Morris, receiving her Masters of Business Administration degree in 2007; and

WHEREAS, Annalicia Davis-Johnson worked for the Loyola University Medical Center as an Accounting Supervisor/Auditor and later for the Chicago Housing Authority as a Project Coordinator; and

WHEREAS, Annalicia Davis-Johnson was preceded in death by her mother and her brother, Johnnie Lee Brown; and

WHEREAS, Annalicia Davis-Johnson is survived by her beloved father, James Davis (Catherine); her sisters, Sonya Franklin (Kenneth), Rosie McSwain, and Jeanette Hall; her great aunt and uncle, Eliza and Louis Harding; her aunts, Sandra Simpson, Denise Davenport, Brenda Johnson, Frances Mae Davis, Eola Mayfield, and Estelle Williams; her uncles, Spergeon Mitchell, Roosevelt Simpson, and Thomas Davis; her nephews, Craig, Charles, Pierre, and Kendall; and her special adopted grandmother; and

WHEREAS, Annalicia Davis-Johnson will be remembered by all who knew and loved her as a strong willed, determined, and courageous individual who didn't let anything get in her way to slow her down until she completed what she set out to do; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Annalicia Davis-Johnson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Annalicia Davis-Johnson as an expression of our sympathy.
