SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rachel Leah (Welch) Drust of Royalton, who passed away on April 13, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Drust was born on May 7, 1938, in Royalton; her parents were Arvel Wilson and Edith (Spitellie) Welch; she married Bennie Drust on June 29, 1957, in Royalton; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Drust was employed at Smoller Brothers in Herrin, Lacy's Flowers in West Frankfort, and was the former owner/operator of Rachel's Flowers in Royalton for many years; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Drust was an active member of Royalton Church of the Nazarene, where she was a Sunday school teacher and served on the church board; Rachel loved her church family and was a witness for her Lord, Jesus Christ, through every aspect of her life; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Drust was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Naomi Welch; her grandparents, Noah and Della Welch and Setimo and Perina (Santirosi) Spitellie; her in-laws, Ben and Mary Drust; her nephew, Johnny Smith; and her cousin, Stephanie (Sullivan) Young; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Drust is survived by her husband; her son and his wife, Dennis and Linda (Rice) Drust; her beautiful grandchildren, Benjamin Wayne, Bradley Scott, and Amy Jo; her aunt, Roberta Sullivan and her husband, Charles; her sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Smith and Martha Krawzik; her many nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Ronnie and Brenda Colson, Chong Christian, Butch and Veda McClure, and Jean Chamness and her three children, Allison, Timmy, and Emily; and

WHEREAS, Rachel Drust will be remembered by all who knew and loved her for her incredible talent as a florist and her marvelous cooking; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Rachel Leah Drust; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rachel Drust as an expression of our sympathy.
