SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Rachel Leah (Welch) Drust of Royalton,
4 who passed away on April 13, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Rachel Drust was born on May 7, 1938, in Royalton;
6 her parents were Arvel Wilson and Edith (Spitellie) Welch; she
7 married Bennie Drust on June 29, 1957, in Royalton; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Rachel Drust was employed at Smoller Brothers in
9 Herrin, Lacy's Flowers in West Frankfort, and was the former
10 owner/operator of Rachel's Flowers in Royalton for many years;
11 and
 
12     WHEREAS, Rachel Drust was an active member of Royalton
13 Church of the Nazarene, where she was a Sunday school teacher
14 and served on the church board; Rachel loved her church family
15 and was a witness for her Lord, Jesus Christ, through every
16 aspect of her life; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Rachel Drust was preceded in death by her parents;
18 her sister, Naomi Welch; her grandparents, Noah and Della Welch
19 and Setimo and Perina (Santirosi) Spitellie; her in-laws, Ben
20 and Mary Drust; her nephew, Johnny Smith; and her cousin,
21 Stephanie (Sullivan) Young; and

1     WHEREAS, Rachel Drust is survived by her husband; her son
2 and his wife, Dennis and Linda (Rice) Drust; her beautiful
3 grandchildren, Benjamin Wayne, Bradley Scott, and Amy Jo; her
4 aunt, Roberta Sullivan and her husband, Charles; her
5 sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Smith and Martha Krawzik; her many
6 nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Ronnie and Brenda
7 Colson, Chong Christian, Butch and Veda McClure, and Jean
8 Chamness and her three children, Allison, Timmy, and Emily; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Rachel Drust will be remembered by all who knew
10 and loved her for her incredible talent as a florist and her
11 marvelous cooking; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14 her family and friends, the passing of Rachel Leah Drust; and
15 be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Rachel Drust as an expression of our
18 sympathy.
