SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marie Aurelia Broderick Sisolak of Waukegan, who passed away on January 20, 2009; and

WHEREAS, She was born July 1, 1918, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Richard and Zoie Dorsett Broderick; Marie was a lifelong Waukegan resident, where she lived with her husband of 69 years, Joe Sisolak; and

WHEREAS, She was a descendant of the pioneer Dorsett Family of Waukegan; she was a member of St. Anastasia Parish, Life Master Bridge Player, and an avid golfer; she was a member of the Bonnie Brook Ladies Golf Association since 1946, and she had won 48 golf championships in her lifetime; and

WHEREAS, Marie and her husband volunteered for 52 years with the Swing Club at Downey Veterans Hospital in North Chicago where the golf course was named in their honor, the Joe and Marie Sisolak Golf Course; she taught juniors ages four through college how to play golf at the First Tee Program at Foss Park Golf Course; and

WHEREAS, Marie is survived by her husband, Joe Sisolak; her sons, Tom Sisolak and wife, Jane, and Bill Sisolak and wife, Vira; her grandchildren, Mary Beth Sisolak Wagner and husband, Dale, Michael Sisolak and wife, Ilyse, and Brian Sisolak and fiance, Ericka Bolinger; her great-granddaughter, Zoie Sisolak; and her many nieces and nephews and loving friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Marie A. Sisolak; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marie A. Sisolak as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
