SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Sanford Z. Patlak of Lansing, who passed on March 7, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak graduated from the University of Illinois in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak was employed as a teacher and varsity soccer and basketball coach for U-High Lab for 37 years; he also coached womens soccer at Prairie State College and boys soccer at Marion Catholic High School; and

WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak was a Past President of the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association; he was designated Coach of the Year in 1974 and Soccer Man of the Year in 1980 and 1990; he was also inducted into the Wall of Fame at Toyota Park in Bridgeview and the Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame in Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Merchant Marine; he also served the Director of the Dolton ESDA; and

WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak is survived by his daughters, Pamela Patlak, Leanne Patlak and Sally (Greg) Firrantello; his grandchildren, Nick, Jake, and Tony; and the mother of his children, Joyce Patlak; and

WHEREAS, Sanford Patlak will be remembered by all who knew and loved him as a wonderful man who mentored the many people he coached; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Sanford Z. Patlak; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sanford Patlak as an expression of our sympathy.
