SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The House Prosecutor has exhibited an article of
3 impeachment against Governor Rod R. Blagojevich and has filed
4 the House impeachment record with the Secretary; and
 
5     WHEREAS, The impeachment trial of Governor Rod R.
6 Blagojevich is now pending before the Senate; and
 
7     WHEREAS, An initial schedule for those proceedings should
8 be established; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the following schedule
11 for the impeachment trial of Governor Rod R. Blagojevich is
12 established, subject to revision by the President or as
13 otherwise provided in the Senate Impeachment Rules:
 
14 Wednesday, January 14, 2009:
15     *Issuance of summons to Governor Rod R. Blagojevich.
 
16 Saturday, January 17, 2009:
17     *(12:00 noon) Governor to file his appearance and answer to
18 article of impeachment.
 
19 Tuesday, January 20, 2009:

1     *(4:00 p.m.) Governor to file motion to dismiss, if any,
2 under Senate Impeachment Rule 14.
3     *(4:00 p.m.) House Prosecutor to file reply to Governor's
4 answer to article of impeachment.
 
5 Wednesday, January 21, 2009:
6     *(4:00 p.m.) All parties to file requests, if any, under
7 Senate Impeachment Rule 15.
 
8 Friday, January 23, 2009:
9     *(4:00 p.m.) House Prosecutor to file response to any
10 motion to dismiss under Senate Impeachment Rule 14.
 
11 Saturday, January 24, 2009:
12     *(10:00 a.m.) All parties to file responses to requests, if
13 any, under Senate Impeachment Rule 15.
 
14 Monday, January 26, 2009 and thereafter, as scheduled by the
15 President or as otherwise provided under the Senate Impeachment
16 Rules:
17     *(12:00 noon) Senate convenes as an impeachment tribunal.
18     *Argument by Governor on any motion to dismiss under Senate
19 Impeachment Rule 14 (30 minutes including any rebuttal).
20     *Argument by House Prosecutor on any motion to dismiss
21 under Senate Impeachment Rule 14 (30 minutes).
22     *Rebuttal argument by Governor on motion to dismiss under

1 Senate Impeachment Rule 14 (balance of 30 minutes).
2     *Senators' questions concerning any motion to dismiss
3 under Senate Impeachment Rule 14.
4     *Senate vote on any motion to dismiss under Senate
5 Impeachment Rule 14.
6     *Argument by House Prosecutor on any requests under Senate
7 Impeachment Rule 15 (30 minutes including any rebuttal).
8     *Argument by Governor on any requests under Senate
9 Impeachment Rule 15 (30 minutes including any rebuttal).
10     *Rebuttal argument by House Prosecutor and then by Governor
11 on their respective requests under Senate Impeachment Rule 15
12 (balance of each's respective 30 minutes).
13     *Senators' questions concerning any requests under Senate
14 Impeachment Rule 15.
15     *Senate vote on any requests under Senate Impeachment Rule
16 15.
17     *House Prosecutor's opening statement (30 minutes).
18     *Governor's opening statement (30 minutes).
19     *Presentation of prosecution by House Prosecutor.
20     *Presentation of defense by Governor.
21     *Presentation of rebuttal by House Prosecutor.
22     *Closing argument by House Prosecutor (60 minutes).
23     *Closing argument by Governor (90 minutes).
24     *Closing rebuttal argument by House Prosecutor (30
25 minutes).
26     *Senate vote on article of impeachment.
