SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Malika S. Hasan, who passed away on February 17, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Malika Hasan was born on May 6, 1972, in Chicago; her parents were Yusuf and Maryum; and

WHEREAS, Malika Hasan accepted Christ at the New Beginnings Church in 2009, where she remained until her passing; and

WHEREAS, Malika Hasan attended Chicago Public Schools; she later served as a culinary cook and home care provider for several years; and

WHEREAS, Malika Hasan is survived by her parents; her sisters, Lazane, Kemba-Noni, Akilah, Talibah, and Maisha; her brothers, Rasheed and LaShawn; her 3 step-sisters and one step-brother; and her many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; and

WHEREAS, Malika Hasan physically, emotionally, and financially played a major role in the lives of many children, especially Erika, LaTonya, Angel, Jyaire, Special, Jessionna, Eric, and Khadijah; and

WHEREAS, Malika Hasan will be remembered by all who knew and loved her as a loving woman who was always willing to help people and could always anticipate their needs; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Malika S. Hasan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Malika Hasan as an expression of our sympathy.
