SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Victoria Grom of the Gurnee and Waukegan area, who passed away on December 25, 2009; and

WHEREAS, She was born on September 7, 1918 in Slovenia and came to the United States at the age of 7; and

WHEREAS, She was employed as a cook at Mathon's Restaurant in Waukegan for many years and at several other restaurants in the area; and

WHEREAS, She was a member of the Waukegan Park Place Senior Center and she enjoyed flowers and gardening; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Grom; and

WHEREAS, Victoria Grom is survived by her sons, John Grom and Bill (Cheryl) Grom; her daughter, Marie (Richard) Dohnke; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Vogt; her nine grandchildren, John, Robin, Tracee, Michelle, Sandi, Sindi, Bill, Wes, and Shannon; her 6 great-grandchildren, Ben, Jamie, Hannah, Brandon, Brittany, and Montana; her brother, Alex (Lois) Von Neumann; her friend, Rose; her friend Verne; as well as her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Victoria Grom; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Victoria Grom as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
