SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of June L. Jabusch of Godfrey, who passed
4 away on December 24, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born June 27, 1905, to Thomas and Ida
6 McClean, the youngest of four children on a farm close to
7 Fillmore; her early childhood was spent growing up in the
8 Christian nurture of her parents, sister and two brothers, and
9 with her constant companion, Beppo, a Newfoundland retriever; a
10 close bond was formed in her early school years among herself
11 and five other fun-loving young ladies whom were dubbed "The
12 Dirty Six"; this relationship was enriched and maintained
13 throughout the group's adult life, with June being the last to
14 survive; and
 
15     WHEREAS, She graduated from Coffeen High School in 1922 and
16 then moved to Springfield, where she attended and graduated
17 from Brown's Business College; she became legal secretary for a
18 prominent Springfield attorney; her early career was enriched
19 by involvement with legal cases emanating from a widespread
20 client base of her boss, who spoke five different languages; in
21 1932, June met and married Clarence W. Jabusch Sr. in Aurora;
22 and

1     WHEREAS, She later took a position with the Department of
2 Revenue for the State of Illinois, being promoted to more
3 responsible positions during her 40-year career; upon
4 retirement, she subsequently became employed as Secretary to
5 the Executive Director of the Knights Templar, a Masonic Order;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, Her life was filled with active involvement in
8 church, the Parent Teacher Association, Boy Scouts, YMCA, Order
9 of the Eastern Star, and other volunteer activities; she played
10 the piano and organ, weekly rounds of golf in season in her
11 younger days, and played bridge year round; and
 
12     WHEREAS, She was of Scottish descent, with her family
13 immigrating to Chapel Hill, North Carolina; her great-great-
14 grandfather was a Revolutionary War captain and was given 500
15 acres of farmland for his service in the military; she became a
16 member of the Daughters of the American Revolution with
17 extensive research and time devoted to the study of her family
18 tree; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Although legally blind, she continued to live
20 independently in her home until June 2007, when she relocated
21 to the United Methodist Village in Godfrey; and
 
22     WHEREAS, June Jabusch is survived by her son, Zeke, and

1 beloved daughter-in-law, Pat; her grandson, Scott Thompson;
2 her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Wade and Tanya
3 Thompson; her great-granddaughters Erin and Kristin Thompson;
4 and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends; she also had a
5 close bond and often inquired about Zeke and Pat's dog and cat,
6 Nutmeg and Simba; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9 her family and friends, the passing of June Jabusch; and be it
10 further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of June Jabusch as a symbol of our
13 sincere sympathy.
