SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Andrew "Carl" Cepon of Gurnee, who passed away on December 10, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Andrew Cepon was born in Waukegan on April 4, 1938; and

WHEREAS, Carl attended Notre Dame University and was past President of the North Chicago Lions Club, Waukegan Knights of Columbus, past member of the Village of Gurnee Zoning and Planning Committee, member of St. Anne's Society, and K.S.K.J.; and

WHEREAS, Carl was known for his great love of socializing and humor; he was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago White Sox and Green Bay Packers; he was married to his high school sweetheart and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 28, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He and his father owned the former Cepon's Food Mart on 10th Street in Waukegan; he also worked at OMC and Compacted Metals; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew F. (Curly) Cepon; his mother, Mary (Drobnic) Cepon; his sister, Delores (Dolly) Patronik and her husband, Pat Patronik; and his nephew, David Patronik; and

WHEREAS, Carl cherished his long standing childhood relations with his friends, Dr. Edward Sarsha, Dick Wirtanen, and Ken Nordstrom; he is survived by his wife, JoAnn (Fagan) Cepon; his son, Andrew Cepon and his longtime companion, Margaret Liu; his daughters, Carol (Mark) Panyard and Jeanine Cepon and her companion, Wayne Geier; his six grandchildren, Joe Simanski, Colin and Cara Panyard, Rachael, Michael, and Miles Canevello; his two great-grandchildren, Marques and Aidyn Canevello; his nephews, Danny, Jay, and Michael Patronik and Mary Wood; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Andrew Cepon; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Andrew Cepon as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
