SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Richard Rovner of Chicago, who passed away on November 27, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born in Niagara Falls, New York on September 28, 1931, to the late Dr. Beril and Ruby Rovner; and

WHEREAS, He served for 35 years as an Associate Professor of Neurology at Northwestern University Medical School and taught neurology at Northwestern and The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, where he was Chief of Staff from 1972 to 1974; Dr. Rovner was Associate Professor of Neurology at Rush University Medical School from 1999 to July 2009, and at the time of his passing was Professor Emeritus; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Rovner was a co-founder and board member of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Rovner was cherished by legions of patients; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Richard N. Rovner was the adored husband of Judge Ilana Diamond Rovner; the beloved father of Maxwell; the loving brother of Barbara Flaxman (Harry); the brother-in-law of Ellis (Bonnie); the fond uncle to two nieces and two nephews; and the devoted owner of Jack the cat; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Richard Rovner; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Richard Rovner as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
