SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marianne Catherine Lindrum on December 12, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Marianne was born on September 12, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois to Carolina (nee Brusca) and Giuseppe "Joe" Renzi; she was the baby sister to Dominic, Anthony "Tony" and Angelo "Larry"; her family precedes her in death; and

WHEREAS, Marianne attended high school in Chicago, however, her education was never completed as she worked to help support her family during the Great Depression; and

WHEREAS, Marianne married Clement John Lindrum on July, 9, 1940 in Chicago; to this union they had three children, Elizabeth, William, and Carolyn; she married Liborio "Bordee" Amendala in 1972; both her husbands precede her in death; and

WHEREAS, Lovingly nicknamed "Cookie" and "Grams", Marianne was a deeply devoted grandmother to her nine grandchildren: Sharon (Joseph) Skierkiewicz, Theresa (Jeffery) Fugitt, William Jr. (Gina) Hornbogen, Colette (Glenn) Gutterman; Allison Lindrum, Rebecca (Daniel) Hankiewicz, John (Abigail) Hornbogen, John (Joelle) Knapp, and Cynthia Lindrum; and

WHEREAS, Marianne was a proud "Nonni" to her eleven great-grandchildren: Alexandria Conforti, Megan Fugitt, Taylor Skierkiewicz, Amanda Skierkiewicz, Ryan Weiskopf, Sam Gutterman, Alexandra Hornbogen, Samantha Hornbogen, Maya Hornbogen, Ethan Hornbogen, and Bryce Knapp; and

WHEREAS, Marianne was a doting aunt to Dominic (late Joan) Renzi, Kathryn (Chuck) Valeck, Careen (Larry) Kopp, Anita (Ron) Turkutz, Valerie Nelson, Anthony Renzi, Richard "Dick" Renzi, and Diane (Ray) Stukel; she was preceded in death by her nephew, Joseph Renzi; and

WHEREAS, Marianne was a loving mother-in-law to William Hornbogen, Sr. and Arlene Lindrum; and

WHEREAS, Marianne was a dear friend to her sister-in-law, Lorraine (the late Angelo) Renzi; she was also a dear friend to her sisters-in-law, Jean Renzi and Josephine Renzi, who preceded her in death; and

WHEREAS, Marianne was a businesswoman in an era when women traditionally stayed home; while completing business courses, she worked at Oak Park National Bank; she also enjoyed using her sewing talents to make wedding dresses for her friends and a Communion dress for her daughter, Carolyn; in addition, she was an avid reader, world traveler, and enjoyed playing bridge and poker with her friends; and

WHEREAS, There are no words that could describe the void Marianne has left on her family and friends; the memory of a remarkable life has become their treasure for eternity; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Marianne Catherine Lindrum; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marianne Lindrum as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
