SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Gerald Snyder, Jr. of Lake Bluff, who
4 passed away on June 16, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. was a graduate of Trinity
6 College in Hartford, Connecticut and the University of
7 Wisconsin Law School; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. served his country with pride
9 and distinction as a member of the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air
10 Command from 1955 to 1958; he served as a navigator in the
11 376th Air Refueling Squadron, which performed mid-flight
12 refueling for jet bombers; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. was a partner in the firm on
14 Snyder, Clarke, and Fouts; taking a personal interest in his
15 clients, he would routinely help clients pay their legal bills
16 and find them lodgings when they were in need; he also
17 sponsored dozens of children to attend Camp Jorn, a YMCA
18 facility in Wisconsin set up by Mr. Snyder's father decades
19 ago; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. devoted great amounts of time
21 to serving the Episcopal Church; he also sang in church choirs

1 for nearly 45 years; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. was a member of the Lake Bluff
3 Park Board; as a member, he was instrumental in the planning
4 and construction of the Blair Park Pool and Recreation Center;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. is survived by his wife,
7 Elaine; his 4 children; and his 8 grandchildren; therefore, be
8 it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Gerald Snyder, Jr.; and
12 be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Gerald Snyder, Jr. as an expression
15 of our sympathy.
