SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald Snyder, Jr. of Lake Bluff, who passed away on June 16, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. was a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and the University of Wisconsin Law School; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command from 1955 to 1958; he served as a navigator in the 376th Air Refueling Squadron, which performed mid-flight refueling for jet bombers; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. was a partner in the firm on Snyder, Clarke, and Fouts; taking a personal interest in his clients, he would routinely help clients pay their legal bills and find them lodgings when they were in need; he also sponsored dozens of children to attend Camp Jorn, a YMCA facility in Wisconsin set up by Mr. Snyder's father decades ago; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. devoted great amounts of time to serving the Episcopal Church; he also sang in church choirs for nearly 45 years; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. was a member of the Lake Bluff Park Board; as a member, he was instrumental in the planning and construction of the Blair Park Pool and Recreation Center; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Snyder, Jr. is survived by his wife, Elaine; his 4 children; and his 8 grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Gerald Snyder, Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gerald Snyder, Jr. as an expression of our sympathy.
