SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Elenor Johnson, who passed away on October 31, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Elenor Johnson grew up in Wheaton; she was the valedictorian of her senior class at Wheaton Community High School; she married Herbert Johnson Sr. in 1945; and

WHEREAS, More than 50 years ago, Elenor Johnson and her husband, a World War II veteran, organized the first fish fry at the Wheaton VFW Post 2164 hall; the fish fry quickly became a tradition at the hall, with Mrs. Johnson running the cash station and making sure over 200 guests had warm meals promptly delivered to their tables; she also served as a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 2164; and

WHEREAS, Elenor Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Johnson Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Elenor Johnson is survived by her sons, Herb and Donald; her daughter, Trudy Smith; her 6 grandchildren; and her 3 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Elenor Johnson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Elenor Johnson as an expression of our sympathy.
