SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Joseph J. Broderick of Joliet, who passed
4 away on May 3, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born in Joliet; he was a long time resident
6 of Lockport, and lived in Joliet since 1957; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Sacred Heart (St. Dennis)
8 Grade School and Lockport High School, attended St. Joseph
9 Rensselaer for one year, and received his Bachelors degree in
10 Civil Engineering at Purdue University in 1952; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He retired from Hines VA Hospital in February
12 2007, following 30 years of service; he was a member of the Old
13 Timers Baseball Association, John Purdue Club, Moran A.C., and
14 the Joliet Moose Lodge #300; he was an avid Purdue football
15 fan, and was very proud of his Lockport High School Alumni; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter,
17 Mary Margaret Broderick; his parents, John and Virginia (nee
18 Fitzgerald) Broderick; several nephews; in-laws; and other
19 family members; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Joseph Broderick is survived by his loving wife of

1 52 years, Kathleen "Kate" (nee Fitzgerald) Broderick; he was
2 the beloved father of Terrence Joseph (Joellen) Broderick,
3 Daniel Francis Broderick, and Timothy John (Anna) Broderick;
4 the dearest grandpa of Alexandra "Ally", John, Margaret
5 "Maggie", and Daniel Broderick; his two sisters, Rosemary (late
6 Eugene) Cummings and Kathleen (G. David) Ross; his brother,
7 Thomas Broderick; his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins;
8 his sister-in-law, Mrs. Art (Mary Lu) Silk; and his
9 brother-in-law, William Brown; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12 his family and friends, the passing of Joseph Broderick; and be
13 it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Joseph Broderick as a symbol of our
16 sincere sympathy.
