SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward Forrester Bloome of Harvel, who passed away on July 22, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Edward Bloome was born on February 27, 1937 in Harvel; he was the son of Everett and Nellie (Forrester) Bloome; he married Bonnie Lee Skibitzki on May 14, 1960; and

WHEREAS, Edward Bloome graduated from Raymond High School in 1955; he earned his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University and his master's degree in education from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville; and

WHEREAS, Edward Bloome served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Air Force; and

WHEREAS, In 1972, Edward Bloome started his business, Bloome Water in Harvel, which sold water softeners and later expanded into the bottled water delivery service; he farmed for several years in the Harvel area; he also had a long and distinguished career in teaching in Divernon, where he taught for five years, and at Springfield School District 186, where he taught 2nd and 6th grades for 28 years until his retirement in 1993; and

WHEREAS, Edward Bloome served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman for 20 years; he was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Springfield and the Masonic Lodge #681 A.F. & A.M. in Morrisonville; he was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Fighting Illini; he was a volunteer for the Prison Ministries at Taylorville Correctional Center and was the recipient of the Illinois Department of Corrections' Volunteer of the Year Award; and

WHEREAS, Edward Bloome was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Edward Bloome is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Lee; his sons, Rob (Pam) Bloome and Mark (Julie) Bloome; his grandchildren, Kayla, Kristie, Kelli, Lane, Marlie, Victoria, and Kyle Bloome; his brother, Joe (Phyllis) Bloome; his sisters, Mary (Carrol) Hufendick and Helen McLaughlin; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Edward Forrester Bloome; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward Bloome as an expression of our sympathy.
