SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Dean "Dino" Granger of Waukegan, who
4 passed away on August 30, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Dean Granger was born on January 20, 1934, in
6 Waukegan; he graduated from Waukegan Township High School in
7 1951; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Dean Granger retired from U.S. Steel in 1979 after
9 30 years of employment; he then retired from the City of
10 Waukegan Public Works Department in 1999 after 17 years of
11 employment; he was also a former Secretary of the American
12 Steel Workers Club; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Dean Granger was heavily involved with Waukegan
14 Youth Baseball as a past President of the Waukegan Pony League
15 and as a youth baseball coach at all levels; he was also a
16 member of the Zion Moose #667; he enjoyed golfing and watching
17 the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Dean Granger was preceded in death by his parents,
19 John and Dorothy Granger; his sister, Sharon Poulos; and his
20 niece, Valerie; and

1     WHEREAS, Dean Granger is survived by his wife of 53 years,
2 Katherine "Kay" Granger; his son, Tom (Jennifer) Granger; his
3 daughter, Dina (Eli) Cruz; his granddaughters, Amanda, Ashley,
4 and Arin Granger; his great-grandchildren, Jaedon and Kaylen
5 Granger; his brother, John (Isabel) Granger; his special
6 cousin, Charlie (Janet) Cerk; his many cousins; his
7 brother-in-law, Steve (Carol) Poulos; his numerous nieces and
8 nephews; and his loyal companion, Tex; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Dean "Dino" Granger; and
12 be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Dean Granger as an expression of our
15 sympathy.
