| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Alex Pish of Zion, who passed away on | 4 |
| September 26, 2009; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Alex Pish was born in Olyphant, PA on February 24, | 6 |
| 1911; he married Martha Koziar in 1934 and they recently | 7 |
| celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He was a coal miner in Pennsylvania; in 1941, he | 9 |
| and his family moved to North Chicago where his brother, who | 10 |
| owned a restaurant there, "The Fairway", asked Alex to help him | 11 |
| feed the Navy servicemen during the war; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He then worked for Great Lakes where he ran the | 13 |
| Great Lakes Water Plant, was a member of St. Patrick's Church | 14 |
| in Wadsworth, volunteered for the North Chicago Senior Center | 15 |
| where he was named Senior Citizen of the year, and was a good | 16 |
| fisherman and a great storyteller; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Alex Pish was preceded in death by his parents, | 18 |
| Frank and Eva Pish; his brothers, Harry, Frank, Anthony, and | 19 |
| Sam; and his sister, Tessie; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Alex Pish is survived by his wife, Martha; his |

| son, William (Dorothy) Pish; his daughter, Diane (John) Link; | 2 |
| his grandchildren: Bill Pish, Suzann Caccamo, Gloria Westphal, | 3 |
| Jeffrey Link, Timothy Pish, David Link, and Mary Link; and his | 4 |
| great-grandchildren, Jill, Kate, Rico, Kelly, Ben, Alex, | 5 |
| Rhett, Bailey, Isabella, and Nicholas; therefore, be it
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 7 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 8 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Alex Pish; and be it | 9 |
| further
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 |
| presented to the family of Alex Pish as a symbol of our sincere | 12 |
| sympathy.
