SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ruth Haasis of Champaign, formerly of Springfield, who passed away on September 27, 2009; and

WHEREAS, She was born June 15, 1923, in Waverly, the daughter of Albert Collins and Mary Miner Collins; she was married to Raymond Haasis in 1952; and

WHEREAS, While a resident of Springfield, Mrs. Haasis was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and, more recently, St. Agnes Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, She managed the Sangamo Electric Employees Credit Union and was employed as an accountant at St. John's Hospital prior to her retirement in 1986; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Ronald; her parents; her two brothers; and her two sisters; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Haasis is survived by her son, Mark (wife, Sandra); her daughter, Judith (husband, Bruno) Velcich; her daughter, Regina (husband, Bruce) Burk; her daughter-in-law, Jeri Garman; her seven grandchildren; her eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Ruth Haasis; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ruth Haasis as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
