SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Elder Carl Edwin Prude, Sr. of East St. Louis, who passed away on January 21, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Elder Carl Edwin Prude, Sr. graduated from East St. Louis Lincoln Senior High with Honors in 1950; he graduated from Universal Business College in East St. Louis; he graduated with an Associate's Degree from State Community College East St. Louis; and he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville; and

WHEREAS, He received an honorable discharge from The United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict; and

WHEREAS, He retired from the United States Post Office as a Clerk; and

WHEREAS, Elder Prude was the former Pastor of the Church of God In Christ Congregation in East St. Louis; and he was the founding Pastor of the Bride Of Christ Church of God In Christ, also in East St. Louis; and

WHEREAS, Elder Carl Prude is survived by his wife of more than 55 years, Lillie B (nee Lewis) Prude; he was the father of 8 children, Avis, Carl Jr., Mark, Vian, Lili, Dona, Paul, and Dwan; and he was the grandfather and great-grandfather of many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his friends, family, and congregation, the passing of Elder Carl Edwin Prude, Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Elder Carl Edwin Prude, Sr. as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
