SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Lucious Leon Gentry, who passed away on
4 August 6, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Lucious Gentry was born on March 4, 1922 in Algoa,
6 Arkansas; he was the son of George S. and Lucille (Smith)
7 Gentry; he married the former Barbara Mae Potter on September
8 7, 1947 in Morganfield, Kentucky; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Lucious Gentry served his country with pride and
10 distinction as a member of the 101st Airborne Division's Glider
11 Corps during World War II; during the war, he served throughout
12 the European theatre and fought in five major conflicts; he was
13 awarded the Bronze Star in recognition of his service; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Lucious Gentry was employed at Olin Corporation as
15 a machine operator until his retirement; he was a member of the
16 VFW in Cottage Hills; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Lucious Gentry was preceded in death by his
18 parents; his brother, William Gentry; and his sister, Louise
19 Rockett; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Lucious Gentry is survived by his loving wife of

1 62 years; his sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel S. and Arlene
2 Gentry and Russell L. and Fran Gentry; his grandchildren,
3 Danyel, Derek, Dustin, and Christopher; and his 8 beautiful and
4 loving great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
7 his family and friends, the passing of Lucious Gentry; and be
8 it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Lucious Gentry as an expression of
11 our sympathy.
