SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rose Marie Cushman of Geneva, who passed away on July 1, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Rose Marie Cushman was born on October 23, 1955 in Lima, Ohio; her parents were Phyllis and Henry Dietrich; she was baptized on November 13, 1955 at Zion Lutheran Church in Schumm, Ohio and confirmed on March 22, 1970 at Immanuel Church in Lima, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Rose Marie Cushman graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor's degree in interior design in 1978; she then moved to Chicago to begin her professional career; and

WHEREAS, Rose Marie Cushman married her loving husband, Gary, at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chicago on September 26, 1981; they lived in Chicago before moving to Geneva in 1986; and

WHEREAS, Rose Marie Cushman enjoyed working at the Chicago Merchandise Mart; and

WHEREAS, Rose Marie Cushman is survived by her husband, Gary Cushman; her daughter, Sarah Cushman; her mother, Phyllis Dietrich; and her sisters, Deborah (Mark) Williams and Lynda (Stephen) Richards; and

WHEREAS, Rose Marie Cushman will be remembered by all who knew and loved her as a natural fighter and optimist, whose concern for others was sincere; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Rose Marie Cushman; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rose Marie Cushman as an expression of our sympathy.
