SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stephanie (Stella) Walczak of North Chicago, who passed away on June 26, 2009; and

WHEREAS, She was born in North Chicago, on December 14, 1915, and was a life-long resident; Stella married Leo (Beef) Walczak on October 6, 1934; and

WHEREAS, Stella was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, formerly Holy Rosary Catholic Church; she was a member of the Catholic Women's Club of Lake County, the Greater North Chicago Seniors, Polish Roman Catholic Union, St. Joe's Club, St. Elizabeth Club, the Rosary Sodality, and the American Legion Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, Stella bowled in several leagues, loved to play golf, and at family gatherings was an avid cribbage player; she retired from the North Chicago school system with 16 years of service, having worked at Neal, North Chicago High School, and retiring from Novak King as Cafeteria Manager; Stella was also a noted caterer in the North Chicago/Waukegan area for over 50 years; Stella was a great believer in family and family values and devoted her life to her immediate and extended family; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her parents; her daughter, Lenny (Mac) McNeil; and her brothers, Anthony (Stephie), Joseph (Sophie), and William; and

WHEREAS, Stephanie (Stella) Walczak is survived by her daughters, Theresa Walczak and Sally (Louie) Rigwood; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Patricia Rigwood (C.J. Brown), Anne (Michael) Drasler and Ben, Victoria and Logan, James (Tanya) Rigwood and Megan and Jenna, Thomas (Jane) Rigwood and Danielle, Michael (Laura) Rigwood and Jessica, Kyle, and Taylor Rigwood, Loretta (Ronald) Lackey, Denise McNeil, and Annie, Timothy (Abby) McNeil and Sam and Max, John (Chris) McNeil and Jake, Brady and Owen, and Connor, Nancy McNeil, and Rebecca (Shane) Sample, Katy (Joe) Pament and Tierra, Brianna, Kayle, Josh (Shannon) and Madison, and Joey (Amanda) and JC; her brothers, Bruno (the late Virginia) and Stanley (the late Susan); and her sister-in-law, Carol (the late Leo (Tuffy)) Bobrowski; her many nieces, nephews, cousins and god children; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Stephanie (Stella) Walczak; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stephanie (Stella) Walczak as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
